    Sale post!

Posted on Buy and Sell Beauty. For whatever reason, I tend to have a very different tone when chatting/typing on things that aren’t theNotice – more chipper, and punctuated with too many exclamation marks… I don’t know. They’re like my quills. (Strange analogy there, likening myself to a porcupine…)

Hi all! Fairly mixed sale but no gorgeous high-end gems, sorries!

All prices are in US$. I accept paypal (add $1 for CC) or concealed cash, because I only just got paypal myself ^^ Minimum order $10. I’m trying to build up my US paypal “fun money” so I can buy MU online! Reasonable haggling is OK with me :) Some swaps OK but I’m looking to diversify my collection up the food chain, lol! Just ask.

I ship from CANADA so shipping will be $6. If all your items have a * by their name, shipping will be $2. If an item has a — before its name, it’s free with a $15 purchase!! (limit two)

Last piece of buisness! I reserve the right to say no. If you’re rude and demanding, I don’t care if you have the cash – I still get to say no.

    Personal kind of Friday

For all of you that feel comfortable sharing, I’d like to know what religion you are. Just out of curiosity, mainly – all my close friends (literally) are Christian or Catholic, and I stick out like a sore, awkward thumb. (For the record, if you haven’t noticed, I’m very much an Atheist.)

(See? I try to give my non-MU-junkies a little love, too!)

Please remember, though, that this is not a conversion thread or a religion-bashing. If it’s somehow offensive, I’m not clicking the “accept” in the moderation page. But don’t let this hold you back! I’d love to hear why you are (ie you grew up that way, or you found it fit your beliefs when you were 20 and haven’t looked back) or any anecdotes etc :)

    Talk!

    MAC MSF Petticoat dupe!

Whoo! I bit the bullet on this NYC Chroma Face Glow in Moonstone and ordered up from the States through a lady on MUT – the lovely ex-Canadian charge me $6 for this gem! (They can be found for $3-$8 at some US drugstores but I haven’t been able to find them here)(I admit it – I essentially just wanted this because it looks pretty in the pan with all the gorgeous domed baked veining)
This hilighter is packed with glitter (fine-grain, thankfully) and is very low-pigmentation.

The first arrow on the left is a swatch when I pass my finger down a raspberry-coloured line, the middle when I swipe my finger across the whole pan, and the right (you may have to enlarge the photo to see this one) is from the pink part only. And of course, you have to see what it looks like on (2 layers, lightly, with a stippling brush)

Again, you may have to enlarge to see the glitter – a little bit pigmented but just barely. (Naked cheek but I have been flushed recently due to this damn cold!) The problem is that this stuff is crazy glittery – swiping twice with remover and then cleansing doesn’t even get all the little glitter bits off.Unfortunately, even with the gorgeous product, there is still that little tip-off that the Chroma Face Glow is a cheapie product: the horrendous orange label on the back.
Overall, though, I think this was a great buy. It’s priced like a latte and is going to last you a lot longer! :P I can see this being gorgeous over your favourite matte blush, topping your cheeks lightly as a hilighter.

If you can find one of these, pick it up! It’s a great alternative if you want to buy a MSF just because they’re pretty and veined. This is not, however, as pigmented, and it gives more of a glitter than a sheen. (Also comes in “Sunstone”, which is a So Cylon dupe, I believe!)

    Fyrinnae haul

An old haul that I never got around to telling y’all about!

    Haul porn…

Polar Bear Mineral Finish clear (it’s nice to see that this sample was a lot fuller* than the other, as I paid for it ^^)
    *if fuller is a word…?

    A few thoughts…
    Polar Bear is gorgeous!
If you’re into shimmery golds, this is a must-try: I hate shimmery golds around my eyes and I must say, I love this! However, no matter how I apply it, I find I get a lot of crazy glitter fallout. (see second pic!)
I quite like the Mineral Finish as well – it gives my skin a really smooth finish. I actually bought this to mix with another loose powder before pressing, to cut down a little on the pigmentation. (It worked!!) No photos of this, as it really does end up looking clear!

Sometimes, silver’s worth more than gold.

Elizabeth Arden apparently makes a cream eyeshadow…news to me! I can only find them on UK sites, so maybe we don’t get it on this side of the pond?

Anyhow, I recieved a tube in a swap. And after seeing it, I must admit – it looks pretty gross in the tube, and on the applicator. A garish green-silver, in a small tube, and it seems almost lumpy. Once putting it on, though, we had an entirely different story! It’s smooth, and the silver colour came out gorgeously. It dries quickly into a powder shadow, but there’s still plenty of time to blend it – and it makes a gorgeous sheer wash of silver sparkle, or a more opaque grey/silver, depending on how much you blend. (note: this takes bloody forever to dry!)
Tip: to blend a shadow like this, don’t “pull” at the colour – instead, pat quickly. You pick up a lot less product on your fingers and it ends up looking much more even!

    My first quad review!

    Direct sunlight

    Maquiriche quad – contains:

    • Crème Lustré (ivory)
    • Angora (purple)
    • Plunge (blue)
    • Sunberry (red)
    Incandescent light

    Thoughts:
Low payoff when dry; glitter “moved” no matter what. The blue shade is gorgeous, when wet, and the ivory is a beautiful hilighter when dry, but the red and purple didn’t really move me.

Overall? Kinda “meh”. Gorgeous colours but not for me.

Dry. Indirect light. (sorry it was so blurry, my camera wouldn’t focus!)

    Wet, indirect light. Much better!

    Wet, direct sunlight. Gorgeous, no?

Men in makeup. Menup? Makemen. Mup. I’ll stop.

Me and ^? So not happening. Sorry, dude.

Personally, I’m not into it – maybe if he was rockin’ the whole guyliner thing, but when your man is wearing more MU than you are… there is reason for concern, is there not?

Which is not to say that I like my guys to be all butch and manly – hair gel is a godsend, and a boy with skincare routine gets bonus points in my books! But I’m drawing the line at liner, maybe a bit of concealer for acne (NOT undereye circles!) – call me sexist or whatnot, but any more and I’m hitting the hills.

Side story: There’s an SA at our Sephora that a friend and I have nicknamed DiorBoy. Asian, gorgeously high cheekbones… wears so much makeup babies may cry. It’s all applied fabulously and meticulously, though – not a pore in sight, though that thick but creaseless layer of foundation. He even does blush – always peach! The reason for the nickname? He’s their Dior boy. If you ask him for help with a product, he will recommend Dior, and nothing else. His station is littered with it – I think he used to work at the Dior counter in the Bay before Sephora nabbed him (they used to have a very made-up Asian boy right up until Sephora hit the city. Logic says it’s the same one.) (Either that or he’s the creepiest fanboy ever)

DiorBoy is very bad for my friend’s wallet. Not mine, because I have self-restraint, but he once talked her into a $40 blusher when she was in for mascara. Loves him to bits!

So? What are your thoughts on men who wear makeup?

(Alternate question: your favourite celeb eye candy + a full face of makeup, including blush and lipstick. Still love ’em?*)

*Jensen Ackles, I would have your babies even if you wore lipgloss**.

    **Even if it was blue***.

    Take a Hint!

    MAC Tendertone. Shade? See: title.

[I’m not sure why this collection raised the fuss that it did – I received this in swap and let me tell ‘ya, it wasn’t for me! So here’s a review, but I’m sick, so it’s kinda pathetic.]Cons: too sticky, with a bubblegummy scent that drives me crazy. Not very pigmented.

Pros: Great shine, and it doesn’t dry out my lips. Plus, this isn’t something that wears off in fifteen minutes – that’s always the drawback, though – if it has good stay, it’s always sticky! Compared to a lot of glosses, though, the stickiness isn’t bad. Gorgeous packaging, of course. I believe this is the same type of pot as the Paint Pots are stored in, and it feels incredibly luxe! Weighted, and high-quality, this is something you could drop on the floor a few times without damaging it. (The floor may not fare so well, though!)

Not so great if: you’re like me, a makeup-minimalist. If lip balm, a touch of concealer, eyeliner, and blush is your go-to look, this will drive you crazy!

Great if: you love sweet things – I betcha this did really well with the U20 age group, excluding me. Also great if you want some shine with staying power, and don’t mind the sticky!

Comment or send me MUAmail if you want this! I’ve been trying to get rid of it so someone else can love it, but it’s going to cost like $15 to ship and no one’s really up for that x.x (One girl actually accused me of lying. Quite literally, in a “either you’re an idiot and your p.o. is ripping you off or you’re lying in your product description” way. Bitch. We don’t all have the luxury of cheap shipping! /end rant)

Off to go get better! (Jk, I’m off to school, because I’m a masochist at the bottom of it all)
