Taylor Swift rocked straight hair the other night… she looks so different! I never really change up my look, but do any of you ladies?
Alsoooo, The Fairest is totally selling vibrators right now. Am I the only one who finds this to be a little really awkward?
- Wearing makeup?
- Having sex?
- Moving out? (And we don’t mean “going away for college but coming home to visit”)
- Voting and drinking?
- Wearing makeup? Twelve-ish (that’s around the seventh grade, right?) for a little bit of lippie or perhaps mascara for a special occasion, like school photos or a birthday party. Sixteenish for all else, and NO AGE IS A GOOD AGE when it comes to eighties porn-star makeup ;) No one wants to see those overnude, overglossed lips and clumpy mascara!
- Having sex? Sixteen, though I know it’ll vary a lot from person to person — it just depends on emotional development and blah blah blah. The argument is that at sixteen you’re not ready for that kind of commitment, or that you’ll be irresponsible… I call bullshit. There are teenagers that shouldn’t be having sex, sure, but there are also twentysomethings that shouldn’t.
- Moving out? I’m not even going to touch this one, because each family has its own issues and hell — some of them are really serious. The government says sixteen, and I say “fine”. I think you should be out by the time you’re thirty, but I also think there’s no shame in returning home if you need to for a while.
- Voting and drinking? Seventeen and eighteen respectively.
I couldn’t decide if this was a YOU or a TMI, because it’s really a bit of both… so I labelled it as both.
How young is too young for…
Discuss in the comments! Here are my answers; I recognize that I’m fairly liberal, and but no means want to start any fights. If your ages are lower, higher, or even the same, I’m just curious as to why!
Here are the tees I talked about!
The best colour representation:The shirts themselves — quite boring on the hanger, but they look great on! (I’ll eventually take a pic of this, too) :
And without the longsleeve:
Label:
(That name is quite the mouthful. There’s also an Avon Beyond Colour Plumping Lip Color, which I now have a hankering to try…)
What makes it so singularily awesome: Dude. Check out the packaging. It feels nice, clicks in place, and makes everyone ask what I’m using. I always get compliments after putting some on, even though it’s completely translucent. Oh, the power of packaging. You’d never guess this was Avon!Ingredients:
I’m not going to type ’em out, but for anyone interested, here they are :)
The product itself: I think this is decently moisturising (more hydrating than my eos smooth sphere but less hydrating than Vaseline or Labello) but it isn’t really supposed to just be a lip balm; it’s supposed to plump! I haven’t noticed any plumping, even after a few months, and no one else that I know who’s used this noticed any either. (Hey, we’ve tried this on everyone from a 16-year-old with smooth, large lips to begin with to a 50-year-old with thinner, drier lips. And nada!)It looks totally natural when you put it on (above), though if you layer the crap out of it you do get a nice lustre (below). The verdict? Buy. In bulk. This is one lip balm that I don’t regret buying, and it really stands out from the rest of them! If you’re expecting plumping miracles, you’re fooling yourself — but if you’re expecting a super-luxe lip balm at a super-decent price, you’ll strike gold with this one.Note: this balm is normally $8, or $10 Canadian, but wait for a sale! It goes on for about $3 very often, and remember to check sites like retailmenot.com for free shipping =) For instance — right now, the Beyond Color line is on two for $7. (See? Told you they’re practically always on sale!)
There’s been a lot of discussion about love recently in my household… all it basically boils down to is the fact that I do things that I love, adore them while they happen, and end up unable to let go.Solution: keep doing things that I love to keep myself distracted.
So I’m wondering if some of you guys, as my fellow beauty bloggers and beauty blog readers, would be interested in starting up a Link Love minicommunity? I’d manage it, and it would be a no-commitment type of thing — as in, there are no obligations other than posting the link lists and submitting whenever you feel like it. No paperwork, you can leave whenever you’d like, no advertising etc… just simple stuff.
If you met me in person, you’d think I was the least likely canidate to have a [semi-successful] beauty blog. And I am. But it happened, and I love it, so I may as well go all the way, right? I’ve been thinking about this for months now, and perhaps January would be a good time to start. Which means I better start working my ass off immediately, if I want to be ready in time!
Interested? Comment here or give me an email… if I can get at least five “tentative yes” responses, I’ll do it, because I’m sure there will be more people interested once it actually exists.
You know what? Eff this. I’m going to start planning.
And I thought you guys might be, too! Sooo here’s a “Best of 2009/favourite products” for you guys to fill out =) I know we won’t get as many answers as, say, Temptalia, but I do love hearing from all of you! As usual, feel free to skip whichever questions don’t apply to you, or whichever ones you’d rather not answer.
The poll will be closed whenever I get bored, so answer soon!
