A trio that actually works like a trio. Shocking, I know.

What it is: Annabelle’s eyshadow trio in

    Creme Caramel

. (All 2.7g of it are made in Canada, for the record! *mad dancing ensues*)Here’s the rundown: Dude, look at the photos. This trio is gorgeous! While I’m not a huge fan of it on my skintone (it looks rather muddy,) I can say that it definitely looks great on my warmer-toned friends and family. The only place where it falls a little flat is pigmentation. Yes, it swatches beautifully, but once you start blending… a lot of it’s gone. They’re still at the top notch of the drugstore ladder, though, if you ask me — more pigmented than Maybelline, on par with GOSH, and kicking Covergirl’s arse over and over again.

In terms of texture, these are comparable to midrange shadows if you ask me. They’re both easy to use and easy to blend, but while they’re not crumbly to the point of annoying powderiness, they’re not deliciously buttery, either. Mine did have a bit of an accident in the mail on its way to me, but not too much of one! I have zero complaints in terms of texture — it’s nice, but doesn’t stun my eyeliner off.

The verdict? So maybe it’s not as pigmented as the $20 Urban Decay shadow you just picked up or as buttery as a $24 Senna trio. However, at just over $7 each, this trio is a total steal! These shadows are gorgeous, soft (but not too crumbly) and quite versatile.

Unless you’re the colour of dead people.

The acne solution — or just another imposter?

What it is: Marcelle’s AC-Solution Blemish ControlThe gist of it: Basically, this is a salicylic-based liquid spot treatment with a brush applicator. Like any other spot treatment, it’s made to be put only on breakout-prone areas… and no, we don’t mean your whole face! According to Marcelle this should not only “help regulate sebum production,” it should also reduce inflammation and clogged pores, soothe redness, and “make blemishes disappear.” It’s a tall order to fill if you ask me!

The packaging: What I really disliked about this was that the brush applicator didn’t feel sanitary — it’s touching your acne, then going back in? Somehow it just doesn’t make sense, if you ask me. After a while, due to the nature of the packaging, liquid would “squish” out, welling up around the edge and drying into the sticky mess above and below. In other words. Major points lost for the packaging.

The effectiveness: Personally, I don’t feel like this is an effective treatment for my acne — but before you freak out, remember that different ingredients help target different things! Salicylic is more gentle than something like benzoyl peroxide, but it’s also less effective if you have closed comodones, etc. I find that sulphur-based treatments work best for my skin… acne treatments are just so finicky, it’s hard to write one off for others’ skin!

    The ingredients:

ALCOHOL DENAT., AQUA/WATER/EAU, GLYCOLIC ACID, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, ARGININE, SALICYLIC ACID, HAMAMELIS VIRGINIANA (WITCH HAZEL) WATER, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, CHAMOMILLA RECUTITA (MATRICARIA) FLOWER EXTRACT, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE , BISABOLOL, ALLANTOIN

The verdict? I would pass on this one. Though the packaging was cute, it’s also the product’s major downfall — with the mess that it makes, I really don’t think this blemish treatment’s worth the hassle, even if you’re a salicylic lover. That doesn’t mean the whole line’s a writeoff, though! I’m a fan of the AC-Solution cleanser, as well as the toner (which I haven’t yet found the time to review.)

2010 Globes, aka "the post with so many exclamation marks I’m even making *myself* want to barf."

Normally, the Globes bore me half to death… but this year, something’s different. It took a couple of seconds to pinpoint it, but I finally figured it out: they’re smiling. That’s right, folks. Smiling with their teeth! Not all the attendees are indulging, but man — some of these lads and ladies look so happy!!

Other trends noticed? Flawless makeup, pale skin (thank GOD that’s finally in) and lots ‘o boobage. Oh, and silver — which makes me, the cool-toned-almost-to-an-alien-extent girl, very excited.

All images can be clicked to be enlarged, and come from various non-theNotice sources.

Lisa Edelstein looking absolutely stunning! Love the dress (especially the colour,) love the grinning glow, and love the not-too-old-for-this neckline.

When I’m her age, I would kill a cougar with my bare hands to look this great!

Smiley Jennifer Garner looking like she could beat the crap outta you, as usual. I’m not so sure about the dress, but she’s such a stunner I don’t think even the worst makeup artist in the world could make her look bad!

Dianna Agron (“that pregnant girl from Glee”) in one of the most creative-but-classy dresses of the night. It’s sophisticated, sleek, and a great choice! I don’t love the nails, but I can’t find a single other thing to complain about.

These photos make me want to give True Blood yet another chance. I never got on the True Blood train… but man, do they look happy (and stunning) together!

    Another by-request clothing post!

The gorgeous necklace from the contouring tutorials. It was a gift from a good friend of mine, and I must say… it’s perfect! I knew someone would be wondering, so after mayrei asked for details, I took a couple of shots and hunted down the little card of contact information that came with it.This gorgeous piece of art is by Muriel Roux, who you can reach at (514) 225-0977 or through her email, mumasse@hotmail.com. I believe she works out of Montreal, if that’s of any aid!
