    Lip Butter

The product: The Body Shop lip butter, which I have in mango and passion fruit.

The smells: love!!! The mango smells like a mango creamsicle, I believe. I really want to eat it – it smells so good!! And the passion fruit is amazing as well, a soft smell that everyone loves.

The texture: the mango was lumpy, for some weird reason, but the passion fruit is nice, smooth, and buttery!

The moisturising power: low. If I wear these, it’s just for the smell – they don’t keep my lips moisturised or soft.

The price: $6 each is reasonable, but I think I’d buy three cheap drugstore lip balms instead. (I got these as gifts).

The bottom line: buy them if you love the smells, but not if you want moisturising power!

    Sunday mornings

I always wonder if a great part of the world turns off on Sunday mornings as everyone files into churches. It is a movement I feel left out of, though it doesn’t generally bother me.

tna and my tophat man are both Roman Catholic, and the little one believes in God, but doesn’t go to Church. I don’t think they’re any better or worse than I am, morally, but I’ve had people ask me how Atheists can have morals. (ftr, ouch.)

My point of view on that is the exact opposite; I would go so far as to say that my morals and ethics are integrated far more into my person than they would be if they were shoved in by my family’s religion and version of the Bible (or Koran and whatnot). They are there because I believe in them very strongly, not because some piece of propaganda told me that I must believe in it to move on to the afterlife.

And that is a point in itself – is there an afterlife? I choose to believe that there is not, because spirits seem ridiculous to me, just another bribe given to children as incentive to behave. I believe that we are who we are due to thought patterns, and brain waves, all which stop functioning the same way that our other organs do.

    Cure-Alls: Contouring

Contouring is a great way to put dark brown-toned products to work. It can be done with bronzer, brown eye shadow, or (for a less harsh effect), too-brown foundation.

Powders work best, and can be applied with a blusher or bronzer brush. Properly applied, contouring makes you look slimmer, heightens your cheekbones, and is, simply, flattering!

Click on the image below to open it up and make it legible ^^
*edit: I came up with another one! Apply a touch on the outer 1/2 of an Asian lid – just on the fold – and ‘pull’ the colour outwards a bit for more depth.

    Sloth

Today’s sin is sloth: I don’t want to get into the specifics, but I can’t bring myself to do anything productive. (Unless it’s due tomorrow. NH3 ammonia.CH4 methane. CH3OH methanol. C2H5OH ethanol. -freaks out-)

Anyhow; here is an exit for you – I recently found RealSimple, link to their beauty archive here. It’s pretty good – comparable to iVillage’s, I believe – link to their beauty archive here – but I like the look of RealSimple more. Content-wise, they both rate about the same in my books, RS possibly a smidgen better. (Also in their category is TotalBeauty, which I don’t like as much. But hey, that’s just me.)

:)Have fun procrastinating with those sites – you know I will be too!

    Lovely

Lovely is a (free!) online mag, which I happen to love.

The articles are great, it’s short and sweet, and there’s a new one every month. Also, though it takes a long time to load on some computers, it’s fun to navigate and you can even pull back the pages with your pointer – absolutely no fuss!

You should check it out; this month’s just hit the web!

(Also, my letter to the editor got featured. -glee-!)

    What every girl needs:

I’m pretty sure I *need* a lip gloss with a dirty name, or a eye liner, or something. Seriously – who doesn’t want to feel a little giddy and dirty whenever they freshen up? Some ideas below. The obvious, over-advertised ones: NARS the Multiple in Orgasm, practically anything from the Playboy site (think: Hef’s Favourite Lip Gloss in Sex Kitten, or a Pickup Liner in Wanna See My Tan Lines?, or a Mood Lipgloss – which claims to work in a way similar to O-Glow, which is another suggestive name, lol! – which comes in only two shades – In the Mood and Not In the Mood)

The obvious, but still fairly indie ones: theBalm’s Plump your Pucker in Squeeze My Lemons. MAC Tinted Lipglass in shades like Prrr and Nymphette, or one of their lipsticks in Shag, Please Me, Soft Lust... And the dirty-product-names ruler, NARS, has shades like Striptease and Triple X as well – they’re just not as advertised as the cult product Orgasm. Which almost makes them seem a little more risqué…

    Just a thought. :)

    elf swatches

e.l.f. glosses and glaze (reviews here). They’re very pigmented for the price, and have amazing shine – I just can’t stand the smell!!

The first is the plumping lip glaze, in plum pout. The second and third are the Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 glosses, in Malt Shake and Candlelight. (The latter being my favourite colour of gloss EVER, it looks amazing on me, but smells, as I mentioned, so I never wear it.)

    Hurry!

Why are you hurrying? To pick up some Beauty Rush glosses, obviously!!
(get it? That was a pun. Rush…hurry…no? I really need to sleep.)

I bought my first two Beauty Rush glosses at La Senza (the retailer for them in Canada) last May, I just hadn’t found time to review them until now! The tube and applicator are standard, with an angled tip and no sharp edges. The price is what really can’t be beat– 2 for $10 or 2 for $12! (It depends on the store, for some reason…some have them on a better permanent deal than others.) 3 for $15 on the Victoria’s Secret website.
I’m not loving most of the smells, but the one that I got was Passion Fruit Pop, I believe. It’s a nice pink colour, as you can see, with a bit of sparkle (all the coloured glosses have glitter*). I love how it stays on forever — I apply once in the morning and I’m moisturized and glossy until lunch. It’s a bit heavy and fairly sticky, but the staying power makes up for it.
The other was the minty lip shine, pictured above. It’s a clear peppermint gloss, also very shiny, but instead of having glitter and being thick, this one is smooth. Because the peppermint tingles a bit at first, feels very fresh, and smells great! In addition, it makes my lips a little redder, as peppermint encourages circulation, so it’s easy to wear this one alone. You can get it here on the VS site, or in any La Senza or Victoria’s Secret store.

And here are the two tubes – this is a tiny bit too dark, but a blend between this pink and the pink on the VS site is closer to the actual shade. But if you can’t mentally blend shades? My photo’s closer to the correct colour! ^^I hope you love them as much as I do – there’s always a tube of mint in my purse!

*EDIT: not any more! VS has released a new bunch of these glosses, without the gritty glitter! (yes!!) And, yes, I said gritty. It doesn’t look gritty, though, which is great.

    Last Resort

My grandmother has resorted to bitchy remarks across the table.

The table full of family friends and relatives.

Which is why I’m here, doing BellaSugar and FabSugar Oscar polls instead of eating. (note: I made a two-layered chocolate cake with light chocolate icing; it was boring and won’t be made again.) It’s days like this that make me wonder why I’m trying to get healthy again.
