    Cause-metics

I recently read about PeaceKeeper, a cosmetics company, in a magazine. Here’s their rather interesting “About us” page:

“PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics is the first cosmetics line to give all of its after-tax distributable profits to women’s health advocacy and urgent human rights issues. PeaceKeeper builds a bridge between extraordinary women in the land-of-plenty with extraordinary women who just by chance of birth don’t have our resources or opportunties.”

(HERE is a link to explain that they are an “ALL-BENEFIT” company, and to let us know what that is, and HERE is one to their FAQ section)

Personally, I think this is a great idea. The next time I’m tempted to splurge on a $16 lipstick or lipgloss, or a $12 polish, I think I might pause and consider a PeaceKeeper product instead. The swatches look great, and with names like “paint me non-violent”, it’s definitely worth a try. Especially as students get %40 off, if you email or fax them proof that you’re a student.

Has anyone heard about, or tried, these cosmetics?

    Beauty Blogging Dispute

I’m not really part of this, being small-scale and stunted, but the controversy around this article (which I find rude and ignorant, ftr) is very clear – especially on Beauty Addict’s response, which I found spot-on.

:) They’re both worth a read, if you haven’t yet!

[Oh! I’ve just found another response, on Canadian Beauty (one of my other favourite blogs). I haven’t the time to read it right now, but I will later, and update this if I have the time.]

    Relieving the SAG

On the whole, celebs looked totally fab at the SAGs. Even Ellen Pompeo, who was worst dressed last year turned out looking amazing (though some may say the following is a crazy Saran wrap dress, I love it.) Also, the grey smoky eye turned out very well, though I would have gone with a pinker lip colour and not quite as pronounced arches.

America Ferrerra also looked great in grey – I adore the neckline on her dress, it’s amazing. She looks so amazing!! (And the raspberry lips? Love it!)

I, personally, have no idea who the hell Andrea Bowen is. But her dress is a really gorgeous blue, and she’s done something fab with her eye make-up, (or at least her artist has, lols!), so you guys get to see photos of her fab-ness.

Lastly, Marcia Cross. She looks amazing. I love how striking her hair and skin look in comparison to the turquoise dress. Personally, I’d say turquoise in January is a no-no, as this is a very springy dress, but she totally pulls it off. And how much do you adore that neckline? Is that a flower? It’s all just perfect, perfect, perfect!

Excuse me, your pants are SAGging…

(Actually, there are only three people that need to be told off for their dresses at the SAGs! And I already posted one! Congrats, celebs – you get off easy this time.)

First is Jamie-Lynn Singler. I’m not quite sure what I think about her tomboyish hair, here, so I won’t comment on it (though I’m leaning very far towards :ugly alert!: )
I know I don’t like this dress though. Her shoulders look incredibly broad, and in the close ups, it almost looks like her boob is going to fall out. Aside from those things though, it’s just brutal. Do not colour-block high-waisted skirts with halter tops, girls! (I do like the colours, though. I’ll give her that much.)

And then there’s Brangelina. Angie looks gorgeous in her close up, as usual – understated humongous lips and that perfect bone structure, all thanks to plastics of course. I always adore her eyebrows, though, as they don’t just run off her face. They’re brown, bold, and have very nice arches. I want her brows.
But wait! What is this? She’s wearing a brown tie-dye sack! And it is eating her alive! And her accessory is a man who needs a good, long nap. And a shave. And a new dye job. And maybe a suit that doesn’t make him look so *wide*.
(I’m totally pitching for preggers, though. Either that or she got implants, too.)

    What is this madness??!

Matt and Natt is having a sale! A SALE! *screams* They practically NEVER have sales! And this one is %40 off (click on “promotional collection”)

Here are the pretties that I plan on begging for: (the first one, probably in white, and the second, probably as-is)BTW: Remember the envelope wallet that I adored so much (and is now on sale for $25)? My cousins got it for me for Christmas. And I’m loving it SO MUCH that there ARE NO WORDS. It’s heaven, personified. I absolutely adore it!

Sale ends January 31st, so hurry on over. Because seriously, you do not want to miss this one. (The wallet I’m in love with is the Natalie, ftr. In case you were wondering!)

    Online Shopping

I really don’t want to study for midterms, so I thought I’d post about a bunch of great online deals instead. *grins*

Starting off with Folica’s current sale: two train cases, both of which I am thinking about. I’ve always wanted a train case, but I’ve never had enough stuff to put in them – it’s the only reason why I don’t have one yet :P
Those two were $12 and $30 consecutively, and can be found here and here.

Other great finds in their sale include this hyped hot iron, down to $60 from $150. I can’t find the post, but Kiss&Makeup told us about it at the beginning of summer-ish.
Nordstrom’s sale is thriving too: $10 for this skirt instead of $40, for instance. The problem I have with looking at their sale pages, though, is this girl: she’s far too skinny. Personally, when they’re that small, I think modelling agencies should be held, morally, to telling them they won’t get work until they gain a few pounds.
Though they’re still out of my price range, Net-A-Porter has some gorgeous things on sale: for instance, this Vera Wang:And, lastly, remember this: all the awesome winter sales are on now, so go find some steals at your local mall! (I just scored a $70 coat for $15 and an $80 LBD for $20. Yay!)

    Touch of Class

A little while ago, I told you about our school’s annual Touch of Class, and promised horrifying photos. Here they are. With commentary. :D

Starting with something docile: how about this bubblegum pink flowery box?

Or maybe this bubblegum pink…um… Actually, I don’t know what the hell that is. It’s just ugly. And little-girl-ballerina-gone-bad.

This girl is literally so hideous that I named her. She is Hooker Girl and she is terrifying. Notice her giant La Senza bag. At school. Where it does not belong. Just. Like. Her. Also, her Giant Fake Fur Hooker Coat and those shoes.

Here is Hooker Girl in her natural habitat. Ahead of her is Skanky Girl, who I really hope was wearing underwear. No pulling Spears-es, girls!

I’m indecisive about this one: is it fantastic, or fantastically horrible? I remember distinctly that it it’s more ugly when she’s standing, if that helps you decide :P

This isn’t a mistake, rather, I’d like to have this done to my hair. But with purple. Because, seriously, it’s awesome. Her locker’s by mine, and she has curly hair (it’s not usually straightened, or up). Looks absolutely fab.

Enter tna and the little one, neither of whom can dress herself. (tna is on the left, looking like her boobs are different sizes. the little one on the right, for some reason looking more casual instead of more classy.)

Lastly is this: (notice the little on on the left, in Converse. With holes.)

I think she looks cute. I love the dress, the gloves, the shoes (oh my god, those are gorgeous). However, she stood here for upwards of ten minutes, just doing her little Asian poses. I’m not sure why, so she’s getting attacked.

Her hair and make up, though, deserve the fug:

Seriously? Bad dye job, too much metallic eyeliner, and crazy curly things going on to make said hair look totally fried (I’ve seen her in the halls, it does not usually look like this).

    Hope you enjoyed ^^
