    What will arrive first?

*note: this was written yesterday. I’m currently heading off to write a Chem/Physics final – erk!

I was so eager for my first swap that I ended up in not one, not two, but THREE swaps! The first with the lovely Laurel56, the second with swellgirl, and the last with beachytabbyanne.

    A rundown:

Laurel, of Laurel56, is a darling – we’re swapping my (BNIP) VS gloss, that was a swirly one from last Christmas that I didn’t really want or need, for a Clinique lippie (which she used once, with a q-tip). She had to take a buisness trip in the middle of the swap, though, so even though hers is the first swap, I have not received her end yet! She let me know today that it’s coming, though, and I believe her ^^

Elise,or swellgirl, was the second arranged swap. She’s Canadian! Also, she honeymooned in – get this – my city. Small world, eh? I’ve sent her a Revlon cream concealer duo (really, really, REALLY not my colour, so I’m glad some one may be able to put it to good use!) for a felt-tipped liner (I’ve always wanted to try tightlining with those…I’ll review it when it gets here!) I’m not sure if she’s even received my end, though – shipping in Canada takes so damn long!

Lastly, Tabby of beachytabbyanne. I didn’t actually go to her profile page until the swap was arranged – she contacted ME for my second VS gloss, and I just clicked on “see other swap items”. I’m a little uncomfortable with this one just because she looks about ten – but her track record’s great, and she’s sending first, and who am I to say she’s too young for makeup? I’m sure some would say the same of me, right? I’m guessing that her BE Warmth and Estee Lauder blusher will arrive first – I’m pretty sure that she was the first one to post to me.

I’m so excited to start this whole swapping thing! I don’t have much to swap, but the ladies all seem so nice, and it’s really just a lot of fun!

    The House Dilemma

How easy is it for us to let go of something that shapes us so greatly? If something physical gives you reason to be angry; to be sad, and cold, and calm, how do we let it go?

If you were defined by your physical problems, would you be able to say “okay” the minute you are offered a solution? If someone could snap his fingers and make death run from your doorstep, would you say yes? Because what’s at stake here? Life, death? Normalcy?

Because letting go of that defect would take away all of your excuses. It was the only thing that stood between you and the rest of the fucked up world, like a glass wall between you two.

And now some old man is going to take away the glass wall, but you don’t want to walk to the world because in truth, you loved the glass wall. It wasn’t keeping you from the rest of the world, it was keeping you safe from them.

What if that defect was what you defined yourself by? What if it was the only thing that made you special?

    Awwww…

Look, I don’t care if this is a publicity stunt or not. I don’t even like Mary J. Blige, and I hate some of the stuff she wears – especially because I’m anti-fur, and she clearly isn’t. But I think this is so sweet:

MARY J. Blige has a heart the size of her record sales. Last week, Blige was at the Diane von Furstenberg store in the Meatpacking District when she overheard a girl having a problem at the register. A spy said, “The girl had a dress on hold that she loved, and the bill was $900. She thought it was only $500, and she couldn’t afford it.” Blige told the saleswoman, “Go get the girl. I want to pay for the balance on the dress.” The customer at first declined Blige’s offer but relented after the singer said, “I know what it’s like to want something and not be able to have it. I insist.” The customer wanted to send her a check for the balance, but Blige said, “Just enjoy it. I’m blessed, so let me do this.”

I went and coloured parts, ftr – that was not on the original! Via Page Six.

    Google Reader

What is it? How does it work? I admit; stuff like that confuses me to no end! I’ll just keep opening my bookmarks folders for now; it’s nice and simple! (Also, I love looking at all the pretty blog pages)

Also, a verbal FOTD. I tried to find my camera, but I can’t! (We all know I don’t do full-on photos, but I would do one side! I love my face today for some reason!)

    Base:
    EM concealer in Intensive Light
EM foundation in Olive Fair, Intensive
EM foundation in Fairly Light Neutral, Semi-Matte (keeps me grease-free all day in my t-zone!)
Brushes: Eye brush used as a small concealer brush, TBS. Also, TBS blusher brush to buff on foundation.

    Other face stuff:
    EM blush in Swimming Pool
Mary Kay eyeshadow in Whipped Cocoa
(above two mixed to contour; applied with Quo contour brush. Review on the brush at a later date!)
Revlon lippie in Mulled Wine, used like a multiple or cream blush stick.

    Lips and eyes:
A touch of Whipped Cocoa around the eye area for more contour
Good old Vaseline on the lips!

I don’t know why I did that – I never do FOTDs. I’m just having a pretty kind of day – one of my friends curled my hair in Cosmet (we had a free class as our last one, our teacher had us bring food, and let us have fun. Fun = hair!)

    The fuck?!

So…the situation: Around the corner, babysitting. Chatting with one of the parents, as she came home. About to leave.

What happens: My sister and her friend come through the front door bearing news: “There’s a police officer in our backyard with an assault rifle. Come home now in the car.”

So…they were about to leave by the time I got home, didn’t take anyone, apparently wanted a long view of the house that’s back-to-back with ours. And they won’t tell us why. Actually, they didn’t even warn us that they would be in our backyard with a fucking assault rifle.

What the hell, guys?! The police should at least have to TELL you that they’re going to be in your backyard, with eyes on the neighbours, and a rifle! Or something! Something other than simply showing up with a weapon and buckling down in your yard!!

(during the first year we lived here, there was a man being arrested about a half-block away.)

(also, this is a GOOD neighbourhood. We moved here to be closer to our new school – essentially, the best one in the city. As I mentioned, this is basically a neighbourhood of spoilt upper middle class kids.)

(upper middle? middle upper? The upper end of the middle class. Or something.)

Is there any way for me to google WHY THE FUCK THEY WERE IN OUR BACKYARD?

    Home early

Came home early today!! I wrote my English final (ACK! I so don’t want to think about how horribly that just went.), and I have History and English after lunch. Well, my English teacher said not to come, and we’re doing review in History, so I just…came home.

I’m planning to start stockpiling posts – a Mario Badescu series (yay! free samples!) and a few other odds and ends. I don’t want to leave you postless while I study my ass off!!

    Quick question:

What the hell is BB cream?

Also, life is so hectic. June = no sleep, massive random anxiety attacks, general malaise. So much to do. So many tests. And finals! Oh god, my first final is on Thursday! And I have a Physics in-class on Wednesday! And an English final on Merchant of Venice tomorrow! And a Math in-class on Tuesday! And then a History in-class on Friday!

Maybe I should just go numb myself in a corner. Or watch more BTVS and BSG. (The first which I borrowed from my tophat man and watched last summer) (Yes, all seven seasons.)

I did over eight solid pages of my math review booklet today. Plus homework from like, tuesday -> friday, because I didn’t have time for it during the week.

    Anyhow. Sleep now.
