Happy Halloween! (Friday prompt at the bottom!)

I was so excited to do a Halloween look this year!! I haven’t done it for years, and I’m not doing it this year, either. But I did do one a few weeks ago for you!!

I’m not sure what it is – something pretty, at the very least. I had “really awesome cylon alien” in my head, plus the cover of “Specials” (Scott Westerfield; a terrible author with some great ideas)

    Used:

    • EDM Sandy Fair Original Glo (Matte would have worked better for the look). Applied wet to get full coverage; the blank slate look worked well for this!
    • Annabelle liquid liner, in black, for the swirls
    • My HG liner, Estee Lauder’s Artliner, for my lash line!
    • Fyrinnae Polar Bear, but only in one picture (which unfortunately came out fuzzy!) I tried this right before taking it off, and the lighting sucked, plus my camera ran out of battery after just the one. But the gold = definitely cool addition.
    • Eyedrops to make the pigment adhere better.

    See? Super-easy!

    Photos:
*unfortunately, what looks very even in real life ends up a little blotchy due to macro settings and numerous screen layers to compensate for terrible lighting x.x

    The gold addition!
    (sorry, shitty quality, as mentioned.)

    The whole thing

    The front
    (I love the eye area)

    Why do my brows always
    look so funny from above??

    And now for Friday stuff!

What are you doing for Halloween this year? (Alternate questions: when was the last time you did Halloween, or what’s the most fabulous thing you’ve ever dressed up as?)

    Amaze-ing

You saw this one yesterday in the Blue Haul.

What is it? A CoverGirl WetSlicks AmazeMint gloss, in Happy Hour (wow, do they ever like to slur their words together or what??) which might seem like just another gimmiky doe-footed drugstore gloss.

However, Happy Hour(alliteration much?!) comes out with tiny bits of (non-disco) glitter, and a mint unlike any other mint gloss I’ve tried. Instead of being minty like a breath mint, it’s minty like the inside of a peppermint chocolate thing – you know, the ones with a chocolate coating around a soft white peppermint layer. And, of course, this wonderful smell (and taste!) is accompanied by a cool tingling, though this*might* be too much for some people.I thought this one would be perfect for me because blue undertones are great for cool-skinned gals (that’s me!) as well as to make your teeth look whiter (um, nice side effect? that I didn’t need.) It went on… well, normally. A little “whiter” than clear gloss, if you ask me.

This photo’s a little washed out, but you get the idea. Gorgeous glossy sheen, no stickiness, and the glitter isn’t overwhelming. It’s there, but not in-your-face… just in a nice, plump-lipped way. And the sheen is just that – a nice glossy sheen, not a sheet of saran wrap over your lips!!Only $6CDN, I believe – what a steal! Definitely check out the AmazeMint WetSlicks the next time you’re at the drugstore or shopping market (I got mine at Superstore, lol!) This one’s probably not the only great one in the batch – bloggers have been raving about these for months! A wonderful gloss at a great price – definitely comparable, if not better, than a lot of high-end glosses.

    Blue Haul

Don’t look so blue! Why not? Because blue can be great! The other day I realized that my tiny drugstore haul was… blue. All blue. So today, I’m going to share with you a few great blue products.

Secret’s Platinum deoderant +Olay in Tropical Satin is my favourite deodorant – it doesn’t really do much for stopping me from sweating, and my sweat basically never smells (that‘s the great Asian genes in me… I can sweat buckets running on the treadmill in the basement and walk away ten minutes later like it never happened) but I love it anyways. Why? It smells great! (Oh, and it leaves white lines, which is also bad. But try this: before putting on your shirt or dress, fold up the bottom twice, like you’re creating a large hem. That way, the marks will be on the inside!)

The tube in the middle is Covergirl’s Amazemint in Happy Hour; however, you won’t get that review quite yet. (It’s almost done!)Finally, on the right we have Oral B Satinfloss… this is the love of my life. It tastes great (not too minty!) and works amazingly. I used to be afraid of flossing because it always hurt, and I don’t have large gaps between my teeth. However, this stuff is shaped like smooth ribbons; it’s thin enough to glide between your teeth, while still taking all the gunk out. I’ve been flossing daily because I enjoy using it so much!!I highly recommend it to everyone, especially if you have a bottom permanent retainer (a small wire running behind your front six teeth, for those of you that don’t have a clue on what I’m talking about) It’s just stiff enough that I can hold it close to the tip and – get this – slide it in though my front teeth. (You need tiny gaps at the base of your teeth for this to work) No more need for those stupid pokey little blue denture cleaning hooks!

    For the Cure

I have two great links for you guys today…

    • Save Second Base is basically the most clever campaign ever for breast cancer. Just thought I’d share that with you :P
    • The Comments for a Cure Campaign is going on right now at a lot of blogs. I am not included in this (sorry!) but the Glitterati/Brain Spam is, so go check out her site! She’s donating $1/comment up to $50 – yes, it really is as easy as commenting. Plus, this is great because it means we get to hear from her again! For a week! I’m excited – we’ve missed you in the blogosphere, hon :)

    OHMYGOD.
I almost set this to post tomorrow morning (my plan) but then I realized it’s already the 24th! Today is the LAST day to comment on Brain Spam in part of the CCC, so go! NOW! :)

What beauty product makes you swoon?

You know it – the ONE (or two, or three…) thing(s) that make your heart go thud-thud-thud. Weather you’re all about the falsies (even if you don’t wear them daily!), the nails, or you have an unhealthy love for taupe eyeshadow… we all have one. I know you do.

Mine? Blush – as you well know. I believe, currently, I have three cream blushes, two loose powders, and six pressed powders, totalling up to…way too many. (eleven – *gulp*!) Now take into account that I have MORE coming in the mail RIGHT NOW…

Anyhow, the moral of this (horror) story is that blush makes my heart flutter. I am a self-professed blush whore. Hand me a gorgeous $20 mascara and I may cringe and put it down… hand me the perfect $20 blush and I’ll be at the register before you can say “total junkie”. (In my defence, a thing of blush lasts way longer than a thing of mascara!)

The other thing (shh, don’t tell anyone this!) that I crave for are brushes – I’m still tracking down the perfect blush brush (any rec’s?), and I could probably look forever. I have a total of (quick mental count) thirteen brushes, and I don’t even do eye makeup O.o My faves are stiff, but still soft, and cruelty-free!

So? Enough about me – what do you love?

Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?

Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX Foundation SPF 15 (wow, what a mouthful!) in L2.

Smells funny, is a really weird colour, and feels… well, feels like make-up. Sticky, smelly and heavy. I received a sample in a swap, so I figured, why the hell not? It’s a light shade. I’m light.

Apparently, I should be going with something more along the lines of F2, (presumably “fair 2”) which is paler. Turns out I’m a hell of a lot paler than I thought I was (For the record, I’m a NC15 under my eyes). Or, you know, not going with this foundation at all. As I said, the formula smells like shit. I’m not kidding.

    This stuff is pretty gross.
