Those thing with the pointy ears

Everyone knows of e.l.f. by now, right? (If you haven’t, they’re a US brand of cosmetics that sells for $1/item)

Anyhow, I tried a few of their products – and was thoroughly disappointed. Everyone keeps raving about them, but they’ve got one catch that no one’s mentioned – they smell like CRAP!
(You know that cheap I-bought-my-perfume-from-the- dollar-store smell? Yah. That one
    .)

So I tried the tinted moisturiser, which didn’t even work well, and smelled bad. Basically, it made my skin tacky to the touch, greasy, and didn’t offer any coverage at all.

I also ordered two lip glosses; Candlelight and Malt Shake (I’m not so sure about the second name). The Malt one has fantastic, bold colour, but it doesn’t go well with my skin tone- I’m too yellow. Candlelight, however, is perfect – it’s just the right nude/perlescent shade, and both glosses are incredibly shiny. They aren’t too sticky, either.
But the case with both is that they smell terrible. Also, I kinda hate the applicator; it’s just the tube that you squish, but the edges aren’t quite rounded enough, and it’s not fun to put on.

Lastly, I ordered a lip plumper and two brushes. The brushes didn’t come, instead, I got a letter saying they were out and that I’d have to order another time – hassle!!! The lip plumper is dual-ended. I love the colour of the gloss side, it’s the perfect dark shade for me, and actually adds oomph to my lips. I prefer it as a gloss, more so than the glosses, actually! The “plumping” side is just a peppermint-ed gloss, which is, nonetheless, a nice gloss. It tingles just the right amount, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t really plump – but hey, what does, right? lol!!
The plumper did, however, smell funny, as well. Like old Vick’s.

The final word? e.l.f. products are great for the price, but smell terrible. If you were to try something, I’d recommend the plumping lip glaze, though. And I hear the new nail polishes are pretty good as well. ttfn!!

    *EDIT: swatches and photos here!

    Exit two.

Just outposts today; I’m in a rush rush rush!

The dress on the left is something off FabSugar. How much do you totally love it???!!

This is a great link to a post on Faking Good Breeding on whitewashed runways – I’m Asian, and I agree 100%. There isn’t even room in bloody China for an Asian-looking Asian – all the models are increasingly tall, and have lighter and lighter skin, as they strive to look Caucasian.

I know it’s an old post, but Fabulously Broke in the City has a really good point about parents – I know mine would never expect me to support them, ever, but I’m not sure what I’d do if I had to. My mom and dad are supporting mom’s mom right now, and it’s really hard on all of us – no one can stand her.

Last thing! I may have to try this L’Oreal collection that Canadian Beauty is raving about, because it looks terrific!

Ttfn, kids – I have to call the little one before I can rush rush rush. And then I have so much to do that I might not get to watch Heroes tonight… (I know – gasp!)

    Update on The Situation

    Aw…thank you, VG.

I guess I should have told you all yesterday. I’m okay; I was practically built to always be okay. (You should meet my mom. She could probably could have made it through Katrina unfazed.)

tna’s party’s tonight, and my Saturday is busy too, so I’ll post again probably on either Saturday night or on Sunday.

    ttfn, kiddies!

    Scrub-a-dub-dub!

My Freeman’s facial scrub got discontinued. It was a miracle in a bottle; dirt cheap and incredibly effective. And then I ran out. And they didn’t have it. And still don’t.

In addition to that, which I use on my jawline and gently around the outer corners of my eyes (I get milia), I use the Biore anti-blackhead warming cleanser on my nose and T-zone. It really does warm – you have to try it!! I think it’s $13 a bottle, but it lasts next to forever and is always a treat to use, so the price is really quite reasonable. I tried to not use it for a week – my blackheads got worse and worse until I finally conceded that this was actually a product that I had to use.
It DOES NOT get rid of blackheads, but it makes mine a lot less visible. I tried the pore strip things, and I can safely say that you should just
not waste your money and time on them. They hurt even more than I expected (and I can wax without feeling a thing!!), irritated my skin, and didn’t help at all.

    Ttyl, kiddies!

EDIT: They reformulated. It sucks. I’m allergic to it. And it’s green inside. Like, green green. And they upped the scent-age tenfold. Ugh.

    Exit one.

Not much to say today; I’m tired as hell.

But since I’m not really posting, I’ll link you to some things to think about.

Firstly: are these boxes not totally fantastic??! If only I had the money…
And what about this? Does anyone else find children’s couture totally disturbing?!
This is hilarious. Scroll down about halfway to the page, and she’s got a mini-article on guyliner!!
Lastly, this looks like fun, (I’m seriously addicted to stuff like this, lol!) but my firefox won’t run it. I’ll try again later when I’ve got time.

    Have fun :)

EDIT: Got the covergirl thing working. Sort-of. You need to install something – which I am so not doing. I took some Benadryl for the hives, and I can’t mentally process anything past “ooh, what a pretty pair of shoes!”
Speaking of which, I love most of these shoes, though I hate Jessica Simpson herself. They’re so pretty!

I just want to sleep! :(

It’s six thirty six here, on a Sunday morning. Why, you ask, am I awake?

I’ve got no clue. But I’ve been up since five, for no apparent reason. So this post will be rather disjointed.I don’t wear scents; they make it hard for me to breathe. And I don’t wear foundation, I couldn’t be bothered. So is it weird that I still really want that Estee Lauder turtle compact?

In addition, I would looove to get a reverse lip liner – I wear a lot of lip gloss, not lipstick, but my natural upper lip line is incredibly undefined. Also, Benefit’s Cupid’s Bow and some sort of lip stain. Revlon has a $15 one up here, and I have a $5 off coupon – has anyone heard anything about it?

Hmm…I’m trying to remember if there’s anything else that I really want this season. Well, I’d love a really nice pair of jeans, a la:
Classic, not all rhinestony, and dark denim.

Well, that’s my wish list. What’s yours??
