    Some links for Friday

For this week’s YOU – feel free to leave me urls to your blogs, blogs that you love, or just random things that amuse you!

    Makeup
My favourite poster in mac_cosmetics. This MILF (yup – I went there. She is the very definition of it!) has some amazing talent. Pair that with her statement-red hair and stunning looks? Well, it’s pretty clear as to why I love her FOTDs!

I didn’t see this one coming. It’s quite interesting! Of course, colour range, packaging, and quality all have to be factored in…. but still. You must follow that link!

    Other
I’m a fairytale-lover (and not ashamed of it) so I looooved this.

Cutest cat ever!! What a sweetheart ^^

If this isn’t pure awesome, I don’t know what is. I didn’t know what a “digital artist” was until I saw this, but it’s bloody brilliant.

Have a minute? Check out these fictional Facebook pages.

That’s all for now! Catch ya later, alligators.

    Palettes and stuff

After seeing promo pics for the Trip II collection, I was interested in possibly buying an old MAC palette… so I threw together a bunch of old product information, photos, and in some cases, swatches, from Temptalia. When I was done, I figured I’d share with you guys – why not, right?

Here they are :) I take no credit for the information or photos – I’m just the junkie who compiled them! Click to enlarge.

    I forgot about these photos!

Well, I did a video tutorial a little while back on pink lips. Here’s the photo tut, which I forgot about… because I suck.

    Enjoy!

    Products Used

MAC Magenta and Pink Fuchsia lip liners
The Body Shop mini lip brush (from the travel set. I love this!!)
Beauty Rush (by Victoria’s Secret) Minty Lip Shine, which is clear. Go for clear + glitter if desired!

Swatches – Magenta on left, Pink Fuchsia on the right.)
    Steps:
Line your lips – Magenta as a “normal” liner (perhaps a little thicker) and Pink Fuchsia to fill in your lips. I just liked the gradient of this… but if you wanted a bolder lip, go ahead and use one or the other in the entire lip area!

Smudge, using your finger or a lip brush, in motions from the outer edge to the inside. Clean up around your lipline if needed with either non-oily makeup remover, or concealer.
Gloss up! Weather you’re using a tiny dab or a huge blob, this step is unavoidable. To keep your applicator tip clean, put a bit on the back of your (clean) hand and apply with a lip brush or your finger.
The gloss will do the final blending of the two colours, take away the dryness you get from lip pencils, and make the look a little more fun and wearable.
My verdict? While this takes a little more time than just wearing one liner (Magenta alone is gorgeous!) it does add quite a bit of depth and fullness in real life. In addition, Pink Fuchsia is slightly brighter and easier to wear for a daytime lip!

    Shoes

“Excuse me-“ I ask the middle-aged Chinese saleswoman, “Can I get these two pairs in a size six?”

Taking the shoes from me, she peeks inside. “I look for these,” she says of the larger shoe. But, holding up the smaller, she tells me to “try these on, they are like size six.”

    Wait.

    Like a size six!?

I sit down in the plush cushion of the shoe store – it had a nondescript name. Something along the lines of “MALL NAME shoes”. But, if I can find some goddamn walking shoes, I really don’t care. As the saleswoman is in the back, searching for a pair of size-six Privos for me, I look at the label of the black Clark sneaker I have in my hand.

    It’s a seven.

I pull it on anyways, only to find that it’s too long (surprise!) The woman comes back out to tell me she can’t find anything smaller than a seven in the cute Privos. She asks me how the Clarks I’m holding fit, and as I tell her they don’t, I can hear mom chuckle quietly behind me:

“They…. ‘like’ fit, in that they don’t! At all!”

    Renovations

They’re building small houses in the rotunda of my school! And landscaping… strange, but I like it :P I have no idea why they’re there, or how long they’ll be there… but they, I’m not complaining!

What I do know is that it has something to do with the RAP (Registered Apprenticeship Program), so it’s not like they’re just doing this for fun.

But I mean, they’ve never done it before, so maybe they are just doing it for fun…

    Does anyone recognize these compacts?

Mom used to have one when I was little – major flashback when I saw this page! (210 in Bobbi Brown’s Makeup Manual… which sucked, by the way)
I can say with 90% certainty that the one with the silver in the corner is Revlon, but that’s not the one that was bugging me! Does anyone recognize the brown compacts with the little twisty gold square? It’s driving a bunch of us on mac_cosmetics and MUA completely nuts!!

If it helps any, it’s a blush compact – that, too, I’m sure of.

    Translucence

I can count how many times I’ve read Twilight on one hand – just barely, though, mind you.

However, if you narrow that down, make it more specific: How many times have I read the first three-quarters of Twilight? I’m not so sure I’d be able to count that high.

My problem is that I like to watch things coming together, and that I lose interest shortly thereafter. I love Bella and Edward when they’re fresh – exciting, unsure. And yes, I adore them when they’re solidly together, but that’s… different. I can’t connect with it the same way.

It’s always beginnings with me. Meeting. Fast comebacks. Never having enough time and always having too much to say. But the second the beginning is over, I jump right to the end. I can’t find my middle ground.

I guess for Edward and Bella, seeing as they’re… you know, fictitious and all, they can conceivably be together forever. But I can’t translate that into real life. Here, ‘soulmate’ is nothing but a marketing ploy, tossed around loosely with phrases like ‘love at first sight’ and ‘took my breath away’. It’s commercial, and it’s nonexistant.

You’re all married. In relationships. Coming out of relationships. Whichever it is… you’ve all had someone, or you have someone, or you could conceivably have someone.

I haven’t met anyone that makes my heart jump. I mean, there are some people I feel nervous and jittery around, but that’s not love. That’s not even lust. It’s just adrenaline, pumping through my veins, because they don’t understand personal space, or because I’m worried they’re a step ahead of me. Just a touch more clever – that’s all it takes to make me nervous.

It doesn’t happen often. I’ll admit that sounds rather arrogant, but to be perfectly honest, it doesn’t happen as often as I’d like. I know heaps of people smarter than I am, but I want someone I struggle to keep up with. Someone who actually uses their full mental capacity, without sacrificing emotions and dreams. Too many of the brilliant young minds that I’ve met are so preoccupied with being smart that they’re passionless. They’re nothing but facts and books, crumbling away to dust in their irrelevance.

    I want my Edward.

I want someone beautiful. And more clever than I. I want someone who is passionate, loyal, so in love with me that it burns. Someone who can make me laugh, catch me when I fall (lord knows I do that too often) or trip or flail. Who knows how to feel and when not to feel – when it’s better to just be.

I know you’ve all found someone, somewhere, at some point in time. Weather or not you’ve held on, clicked… you’ve at least found your initial connection. At least once.

Appreciate it- for me. Love everything that’s happened. Embrace the memory of your heart bursting or breaking. Love the rush you’ve all talked about and the way he made you feel. Dig your nails into the first time you had your heart broken and don’t ever let go.

One of these days, I will settle for second best. If you can’t find someone to make your heart flutter… well, why not go for the tremble? It may not register on the Richter scale, but it’ll get you from day to day.

    Practicality over passion, right?

A confession to liven up your day

It’s not Friday, but who really gives a damn? Today’s “YOU” post is today! =D Share a secret, any secret…

    Mine?

I buy baby stuff. Well, not really. It was one book. One time. And then there was the piggy bank. And somewhere in between, lots of self restraint.

But the point is, I have the book. I’m not even in University and I bought a book for my baby-to-be *rolls eyes*. While on vacation, last summer.

In my defence, though, the book is fucking awesome. Even if I don’t have kids, I’ll be glad I have it! I promise pictures sometime soon-ish.
