Forever never happens

What: Make Up For Ever‘s Aqua Eyes liner, in 0L (also known as “mat black”) $17US, $19.50CAD

Texture: nice and creamy, very similar to my (also waterproof) GOSH liner. This one glides on like a dream, with no tugging whatsoever, so points for that!

Colour: Not as black as it could be, but also not a grey-black. I wouldn’t do a dramatic look with this, but if I had to I’m sure I could get a more vibrant line by layering. I think.

Staying power: of course, this is the one you want to hear about! It looked great on my waterline, and went on incredibly evenly – and then promptly disappeared. I’m not quite sure where it went, because it didn’t leave dark shadows, but it was gone! As for on normal skin? I lined my lower and upper lash lines with it this morning, and at noon, it was still going strong! However, by the time I looked in the mirror around four in the afternoon, I had giant raccoon eyes! Okay, maybe not giant, but there was a good half-centimetre of sooty grey (and not in a good way) black around my eyes, which I find I get sometimes from lining my upper lash line. I was disappointed – this stuff was supposed to stay on well!

The verdict? Pass.

Why? This is pretty much identical to the GOSH* pencil, which is regularly $6-ish cheaper, and $8 when the GOSH is on sale (which is pretty often!) They both have a great, creamy texture, and boast gigantic colour ranges, and (dare I say it?) I think the cheaper GOSH has slightly better staying power! (It’s never given me crazy colour bleeding.) I have yet to try the Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil that it’s compared with, which is $16 for the same amount of product. Hmm – I could have sworn they used to be the same price…

*GOSH still isn’t available in the US as far as I know, though. Ha! Take that! Us Canadains have something you don’t! -beams- Still, though, I’d pass on the MUFE pencil. It’s just not worth the price.
