INSTANT FIXES

They say that everything worth having is worth working for, but by the looks of 2015’s beauty trends, the industry is still trying its darndest to prove that particular old adage wrong.

This year has seen a lot of really cool “instant fix”-type products (like this one from Deciem), and the brightening Neutrogena Healthy Skin Instant Tone Corrector SPF 15 ($19.97 CAD) and vivid orange The Body Shop Vitamin C Instant Glow Enhancer ($20 CAD) are two more examples of this quick-fix trend–which, can I just say, I am loving.

NEW CLASSICS

The Clinique Dramatically Different and Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit ranges are two of the beauty world’s most popular ranges for people (especially teens!) with acne-prone skin. And this year, I am happy to say, BOTH ranges are getting a long-awaited update.

Clinique is adding a Dramatically Different Cream ($14.50 USD) for those with dry skin, and Neutrogena has created an Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer ($8.78 USD/$12.99 CAD) with 0.5% salicylic acid. Starting at under $15 each, they’re great picks for the teen or tween just getting into skincare — and just as good for those still struggling with acne in their college years.

BROW POWER / POWER BROWS

In other “instant” news, this year has been pulling out some awesome new brow product formats! I’ve been loving a lot of angled pencils and double-ended brow liners, but they’re far from the only new formats that companies are testing right now.

For a super-quick brow, I’m really loving the Clinique Just Browsing Brush-On Styling Mousse ($16.50 USD), which fills, tints, and shapes your brows all in one swipe. For something really different, though, check out the Maybelline BrowSatin Smoothing Duo-Brow Pencil & Filling Powder ($9.40 USD), which features your typical brow pencil on one end and a sponge applicator with powder in its lid on the other!

STILL IN SEASON

October may be over, but if you missed out on all of this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness products, it’s not too late. Origins’ Limited Edition Make a Difference Rejuvenating Hand Treatment ($25 CAD) is still available, and the brand will donate $4 to the BCRF for every tube sold until the end of the year.

And, in terms of looking out for yourself… well, there’s never a good time of year to go sunscreen-free. If you’re headed skating, skiing, or hiking this winter, make sure you still protect yourself from the sun with the Garnier Ombrelle SPF 60 Ultra-Fluid Lotion ($12 CAD).
