Just in time for that awkward summer/spring transition

I’ve been putting it off because I hate this time of year – girls everywhere are in short-shorts with dark orange legs, and pale faces to match. It kills me. Plus, with this new “oh hey let’s wear our shirts as dresses!” trend, I’m just about ready to die.So, here are some MAC bronzer swatches. Please, make your face/neck/chest match your horrendous fake tans – or even better, don’t get horrendous fake tans on only your lower halves!

Swatches (Golden, then Bronze):

At xx each, MAC bronzing powder comes with 10g (or 0.35oz) of product. And I finally figured out why, when doing (my first!) full-face-and-décolletage bronzing the other day. To get that perfect “bronzed” look, you need to use a ton of this stuff! But… more on application tomorrow.

Bronze is a more berry/bronze, and is definitely more pigmented. I really have to be careful about using this with a light hand! When I do, though (or when I use a skunk brush) the colour is absolutely gorgeous. But be careful with the red tones! Though they’re what makes this one so unique and perfect, applying too much can take you from tanned-and-flushed to sunburnt in zero seconds flat! I don’t care who you are or what you look like, you MUST try this on in MAC ASAP! It’s the perfect blush/bronzer mix – you won’t need to layer products with this one. Keep in mind that it’s medium-shimmery.

Golden is more of a “true” bronze, with no orange undertones. If you’re N10-N25, I think this would be worth checking out. It’s less pigmented, but imparts a very easy-to-wear lightly-tanned shade. Also glittery (boo) but slightly moreso, I believe. Though that wasn’t a problem in Bronze, I think it might start to be one for Golden. Why? Bronze is something you wear sparingly, like a blush, whereas Golden is a great colour for an all-over bronze (to help transition you into your summer foundation). It’s not a must-have, but it’s nice.

The verdict? Girls of all skintones will love Bronze as a blush/bronzer. But if you’re lighter, and/or looking for something to use all over your face, check out Golden for a nice all-over tan.
