Diptyque Face Oil, Jason Wu x Caudalie, and more: New 27/08/16 | Steals & Deals with Groupon

sponsored post

Okay, so here’s the thing. You know Groupon? I’ve been using their site for years*, and I recently found out that they do more than just coupons for in-store deals. They emailed me a couple weeks back and asked me to check out their site, and like… did you guys know that they have pages for web coupons, too? Because they do, and it’s awesome.

The Groupon Coupon pages have everything from % off deals to free shipping, and they have them for all sorts of sites – Nordstrom, Namecheap, even Ebay. Literally everything in the box above comes from a Groupon Coupon site. (In other words: ALL THE MAKEUPS.)

If you do a lot of online shopping, they’re worth checking out!

*Okay, technically my mother has been compulsively using their site for years and the rest of us are just getting sucked into the vortex, but it’s lead to a surprisingly affordable Marble Slab addiction for all of us, so I’m cool with it.

A-Derma Epitheliale AH, Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer, and more | New 27/02/16

Saturday, February 27, 2016

Happy Saturday, folks! I know I’ve been dragging my feet when it comes to posting this month (I messed up my abdominal muscles and man, it is really hard to blog lying down), but here’s a little “New This Week” instalment to keep you going for a while!

It’s been a couple of months since the last time I did one of these, if I’m not mistaken — did you miss ’em?

And two products that have come across my desk recently that I (cry) can’t use because of silicones…

A-Derma Epitheliale AH Duo Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer`

I was super excited for both the A-Derma Epitheliale A.H. Ultra-Repairing Cream, which is designed to accelerate skin repair and reduce the formation of scars (something that I desperately need), and the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Concealer, which brightens under-eye circles and comes in both correcting and concealing shades, so I’m really bummed that I won’t be able to review them for you guys!

I’ve heard amazing things about the new Ultra HD Concealer from a few of my fellow bloggers, but I’m afraid I haven’t heard much about the A-Derma Epitheliale. Have any of you guys tried it? Or, if not…

What’s your favourite product to prevent (or reduce!) scarring?

Burberry Beauty launches Canada Vancouver Nordstrom

I remember when Burberry Beauty first stepped onto the scene. It wasn’t too long ago, but the brand was one of the first high fashion lines (other than Chanel, of course) to step outside of fragrance and start producing luxury cosmetics, too.

And, despite making up just a tiny morsel of the brand’s overall sales, the Burberry cosmetics line has done well for itself–well enough that other fashion brands, like Gucci and Michael Kors, have followed suit. Bloggers and consumers alike have been smitten with the products’ smooth formulas and chic packaging for the past half-decade, and the love just doesn’t seem to be waning.

So, dear reader, it’s been particularly exciting to slowly watch Burberry cosmetics become available in person across Canada this year.

There are quite a few high-end makeup brands that are next to impossible to find in Canada, but you can now find Burberry Beauty at the brand-new Nordstrom in Vancouver. Or, if you’re outside of Vancouver, look for the brand at Nordstrom Ottawa, select Hudson’s Bay locations, and online at thebay.com and sephora.ca.

Happy shopping!

Guerlain Yorkville Toronto Boutique and Institute review

The most unexpected adventure I’ve taken so far this year was a trek into the gorgeous, glossy depths into Toronto’s Guerlain Boutique & Institute at 110 Bloor Street West.

I wandered in one fine Tuesday, expecting to just take a quick sniff of Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille–could it really be as gorgeous as I remembered? (Spoiler: it is, and then some.)–and walked out with some seriously sharp bronzer and a facial appointment for that Friday.

Guerlain Boutique Toronto tour review

The Boutique

As a fragrance junkie, the only thing you need to know about Guerlain boutiques is this: there is only one in Canada, and it contains all of the brand’s current fragrances…

Les Exclusifs and all.

Guerlain les exclusifs perfumes

From bee bottles to tailor-made fragrances (you know, if you have a year, time for a trip to Paris, and a spare $75 000 lying around), this is the place to be. The staff here know everything there is to know about Guerlain’s recent launches as well as their classics, and can tell you about everything from Guerlinade to Theirry Wasser (Guerlain’s in-house perfumer).

Scents you must try while you’re there:

Tucked discreetly in the back of the boutique is a small treatment room and all the necessarily amenities — a gorgeous glass shower, a mirrored change room, and the boutique’s secret weapon: a petite esthetician named Sakien Teymouri who, I swear, has magic hands.

I was lucky enough to experience a complimentary Complete Facial ($170 CAD), which is a 1h30 treatment that can be customized to match your skin’s needs.

As someone with extremely touchy skin, facials aren’t usually something I can indulge in, but the boutique’s manager took the time to double-check ingredients lists and customize a gentle, silicone-free regimen just for me. (Thank you so much, Jamielee — your kindness and attention to detail really made my day!)

A week away | theNotice goes to Toronto!

Monday, March 2, 2015

As some of you may know already (and if you don’t, why aren’t you following theNotice’s Twitter and Instagram channels?), I was lucky enough to spend last week in Toronto thanks to Neutrogena, visiting all kinds of beautiful shops, learning about the coolest new products of the year, and meeting the most hilarious, amazing women.

So. Today, I’m going to catch you up on what I’ve been up to over the past few weeks; on Wednesday, I’m going to share my Neutrogena experience with you (including a little game of I-Spy!); and on Friday, I’ll be posting my review of the (gorgeous) Miraj Hammam Spa by Caudalie.

Note: I lost my camera while I was away (cry) so I don’t have a ton of photos to share with you… but here’s what I had saved to my phone!

The Detox Market (Canada/Toronto)

The Detox Market

If you live by Toronto’s Detox Market, you have to visit it. Like, STAT. And bring your wallet!

This little shop (which was originally meant to be a pop-up shop in 2009 but is still around and thriving) is packed from wall to wall with an incredibly well-curated selection of skincare, haircare, cosmetics, and everything from ready-to-boil soups (just add water!) to delicious green juices by Greenhouse.

And ugh, it has the best vibe. Great music, beautiful setup, and the most magical lighting.

Odacite oil review

Little trays of Odacité

If you get the chance to go to The Detox Market, make sure to:

  • Pick up an serum concentrate oil by Odacité (their top-selling range, which I adore) — I hear the blueberry serum is amazing for scarring,
  • Check out Rahua, which literally everyone who works in the store is obsessed with,
  • Smell the Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin C Body Oil (the prettiest),
  • Give the W3ll People makeup line a swatch (this is the only place you’ll be able to do it in Canada), and
  • Try a cold-pressed Greenhouse juice! The Good and The Giver are sugar free — I bought a bottle of The Giver on my way out (it was too pretty not to), and it was delicious. Annika, the woman who was working at the Greenhouse table that day, said that it was one of their earthier ones, but the balance of lemon and ginger masks the green-ness of the juice so well. If this is earthy, man, the rest of the line must be like drinking healthy candy.

Rodial launches cosmetics

I have a handful of products from this launch that you can bet your bones I’ll be reviewing for you soon, but just as a little preview: Rodial is launching cosmetics this March, and you guys, you need to get excited for this now

I’ve heard amazing things about the new Glamolash mascaras (a skinny wand for day wear and a chubby one for serious volume), which were wear-tested on Rodial’s London employees overnight to ensure that they wouldn’t flake, and the upcoming brush line is SO plush and dense. The brushes look and feel super luxe, and they put even the best Real Techniques synthetics to shame.

A few bits & bites

And, finally, the last thing that I have to share with you (and thank you for sticking with me until the end, if you have) is that M and I kind of broke up when I came home. I mean, we did. We did and now I am sad.

It’s a weird time for me right now, because so much has changed in just a few days, but I’m okay. You know how it is: you cut seven inches off of your hair, go travelling for the first time as a disabled human being, meet the people that you’ve been friends with for (literally, in one case) seven years… break up with your boyfriend of two and a half years and then cry about it.

It was one of the hardest things that I’ve ever had to do, but hey. I visited three libraries on Friday and he’s still sending me upside-down monkey emoticons; we’re gonna be just fine.
