Sephora sale, Commodity perfumes, & niche skincare innovations | New 17/04/15

Friday, April 17, 2015

I was browsing the Sephora app from my bed the other day (dangerous, I know) and there were SO MANY cool new things that I absolutely had to put together a fresh New This Week post for you guys.

“Products like what,” you ask? Like the Bite Beauty Watercolor Lip Gloss Library ($49 USD), which features five absolutely beautiful pastel lipglosses and seven pretty (and entirely wearable) shades. Or products like the new Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes ($21 USD) — I want Heather Pop so bad. Or the AERIN and Commodity perfumes that are now available on the Sephora site. (I need AERIN Lilac Path and Waterlily Sun in my life, like, yesterday. They’re amazing.)

But most importantly, I wanted to share these product launches with you guys today because (!!!) Sephora is currently running their Beauty Insider Spring Salewhich is 10% off for BIs until the 20th and 15% off for VIBs and VIB Rouges until the 21st!

My favourites from the brand: Honestly, I haven’t tried a lot from their current line. I love their Satsuma fragrance, though, (who doesn’t?) and am really curious about their Vitamin E Serum-In-Oil! Along with the serum, their hair butters and new Body Sorbets are notably silicone-free.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

This year’s Nordstrom Anniversary sale runs from July 10th-17th for Nordstrom card holders, and is open to both card holders and the pubilc from July 18th-August 3rd. Now, I don’t usually cover anniversary sales, but there’s something special about this one (you know, aside from the free US shipping & returns on all orders): it includes a Charlotte Tilbury set.

Charlotte Tilbury 'Filmstar Killer Cheekbones' Set

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Killer Cheekbones Set ($110 USD)includes a Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette and Powder & Sculpt Brush

For beauty addicts who’ve been living under a rock these past few months, Charlotte Tilbury (y’know, that crazy-famous makeup artist who often sits alongside fellow legends Lisa Eldridge and Mary Greenwell) launched her own beauty line last September. And, up until now, it was only available through British retailers like Selfridge — who packages orders worth hundreds of dollars in near-empty boxes with a single piece of tissue for impact control.

So, here are a few picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, including a small, precious piece of Charlotte Tilbury. Here’s to hoping this means the brand will officially land in North America soon. Shop all the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale beauty exclusives here

Chanel Dentelle, Jo Malone, Diptyque Baies, Figuier

Chanel Dentelle Précieuse Illuminating Powder ($80 USD) – finally available in the US! Sara has some great comparison swatches of this one at Color Me Loud.

Jo Malone Cologne Collection ($88) – contains five mini (0.3 oz), layerable fragrances in Nectarine Blossom and Honey, Orange Blossom, Blackberry and Bay, Pomegranate Noir and Grapefruit.

Diptyque Baies & Figuier Candle Set ($120) – set includes two 6.5oz candles in Baies and Figuier, as well as a wick trimmer and candle snuffer. (Diptyque candles are notoriously finicky during burning — you need to make sure to straighten and trim the wick after each burn.)

MAC Look in a Box 2014 Pink, Beige, Coral

MAC Look in a Box in All About Pink ($39.50) – includes Embrace Me Lipstick (Matte), Unlimited Style Lipglass (Frost), Fabulous Three Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow trio, and Photogravure Technakohl Liner.

MAC Look in a Box All About Beige Face Kit ($49.50) – palette contains MAC Eyeshadows in Rocketgirl (Satin), Plum Ember (Satin), Sable Riche (Frost), Cocktail Black (Frost), Honesty (Luster), Light Study (Matte); Powder Blushes in Love and Laughter (Satin) and Liberating (Satin); Lipsticks in Modern Wow! (Amplified) and What’s Haute? (Amplified). (Also available in All About Plum).

vMAC Look in a Box in All About Coral ($39.50) – includes Passion Charge Lipstick (Luster), Stroke the Flame Lipglass (Frost), Collective Chic Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow trio, and Brownborder Technakohl Liner. (Also available in All About Nude).

Bobbi Nude, NARS Dolce Vita, LORAC Skinny Navy palette

Marcelle annabelle 40 off free shipping

With Marcelle and Annabelle featuring 40% off until the 13th to celebrate International Women’s Day, I thought I’d take a minute to go over a few of my must-have from their lines. I’ve linked to full reviews wherever possible, but I’ll do my best to tell you why I love each & every one of these within this post, too.

» Shop & at 40% off with the code WOMEN

As with the Annabelle site, shipping is free on all Canadian orders, and is calculated by weight for all US ones. If you do live in the US, now might be a good time to stock up anyways — 40% off goes a long way in negating the cost of shipping!

My Marcelle favourites & recommendations (see my Annabelle picks here)

Marcelle Essentials 400ml

Marcelle Essentials Cleansing Milk { review | buy }

Marcelle’s Cleansing Milk was both the first Marcelle product and the first skincare product that I truly fell head over heels for. Sure, there are products that I like more, but so far, I have yet to find anything I love more.

While not flawless (my skin is still not 100%), this cleansing milk made a huge impact on my skin. Because it doesn’t strip my skin of all of its natural oils, it leaves my face feeling less tight and dry than other cleansers (even other cream cleansers that I’ve tried), and it keeps my skin from overproducing oil during the day.

Formulated for normal to dry skintypes, it’s also scent-free and sensitive-skin friendly.

 Marcelle Essentials Soothing Cleansing Water review

Marcelle Essentials Soothing Cleansing Water review | buy }

If there was one “hit product” in the Marcelle skincare line, I think this one would be it. I’ve gone through an entire bottle (which doesn’t sound like much, but this is literally the only makeup remover I’ve ever finished), and I have two more as backups already.

Also scent-free and sensitive-skin-friendly, the Essentials Soothing Cleansing Water does an amazing job at removing makeup without leaving your skin greasy or raw. It’s great for removing eyeliner from the waterline, and while it’s not as hydrating as a straight-up oil (and really, why would you even expect it to be?), it removes makeup beautifully and quite gently.

Marcelle Light to Medium BB cream review

Marcelle BB Cream (original) review | buy }

This isn’t a product that I use in my daily makeup repertoire (it’s full of ‘cones), but I tested it out when it launched & loved it so much that I bought a tube for my mom. It’s great at evening out the skin while still looking like skin, and wears well throughout the day.

Where the Marcelle BB Cream really excels, though, is in covering up large pores. I’m not sure how it does it (magic!), but it makes the pores on my mom’s nose disappear. I basically think that my mom is the prettiest human to ever exist–who doesn’t think that of their mothers, though, really?–but I’m not looking forward to getting her pores when my skin ages!

Marcelle Face Powder review | buy }

An oldie but goodie. Marcelle’s Face Powder is a classic, both in its utilitarian packaging and its velvety-soft finish. It holds up well throughout the day, disappears into the skin while giving it a beautiful satin-matte finish, and keeps a pretty short, ‘cone-free ingredients list.

I’ve had my tub of Marcelle Face Powder for years (at least three, if not four), and I’ve barely made a dent in it despite dropping it all the time. This, along with Marcelle’s original pressed powder (now available as their Monochromatic Pressed Powder ($15.95 CAD)) is all I will use for powder — nothing else measures up!

Marcelle Lux Eye Dust in Go-Violet buy }

Okay, so this one is kind of cheating. It’s not one of my must-haves, but I posted about Annabelle’s Violet Vibe pigment many years ago, and it apparently resonated with a lot of you! I still have readers writing in and telling me that they bought Violet Vibe, and think of theNotice every time they use it.

Go-Violet is essentially the same as Violet Vibe, but I’m recommending it as an upgrade for one simple reason: the packaging is a lot better. And, with 40% off, you have no reason not to buy the slightly more expensive but far better-packaged version!

Marcelle Lux Diamond Eyeliner in Pure Gold see itbuy }

I don’t even have odes left to talk about this one, I write about it so much. Marcelle’s Lux Diamond liners are the same as the Annabelle Glitterama liners that I love, but the Annabelle ones don’t come in this beautiful, beautiful gold. It’s perfect during the holidays, for a dinner date, for an effortless summer evening eye — I could even see excelling at office wear.

It’s beautiful, beautifully packaged, and beautifully subtle. There’s nothing not to love.

Marcelle Lux Metallic, Diamond liquid liners glitter

Marcelle Lux Metallic Eyeliners review | buy }

Finally, I wanted to wrap up with Marcelle’s Lux Metallic Eyeliners. Housed in the same packaging as their Diamond counterparts, the Lux Metallic liquid liners are quite unique: they deliver translucent metallic colour, for a very interesting, almost watercolour effect. They can be layered for more impact, but they hold up well, and make it easy to create an ombré effect from one liner to the next, as well.

What are your Marcelle skincare and makeup favourites?

Beauty sales, new Meteorites, and the last “New This Week” post of the year | New 29/12/13

Sunday, December 29, 2013

Just an “easy” post for today — a few recent launches that I think are worth noting + a two sale PSAs.

Sorry for the impromptu little break I took last week; I ended up having to scrap the last few of our pre-Christmas features in favour of staying in bed and bemoaning my lack of an immune system. I hope to get back into the swing of things soon, though admittedly at a slower pace than the rest of December has been going at, so keep an eye on theNotice for more reviews & beauty news in the new year.

Get up to 50% off beauty at Nordstom & Sephora

There’s nothing like the post-holiday season for buying beauty, apparently! Get 15-50% off select beauty items + free US shipping on all orders at Nordstrom for a limited time. { shop the sale } clickable picks below!

From now until January, get an extra 20% off all sale items at Sephora with code EXTRA20, both in Canada & the US. { shop the sale } clickable picks below!

One last thing — due to the overwhelming response to this post, I will be reviewing the Je Joue MiMi Soft as soon as I can find the time! I’m so excited to get into something that’s so important to me (embracing female sexuality) in a space that I hold just as close to my heart. Thank you so much for your clicks, feedback, and re-tweets — support from all of you makes theNotice possible, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season!
