YSL Arty Stone (Spring Look 2013) | Collection Overview & Preview
Tuesday, January 22, 2013
With a pretty serious cold (the kind of serious wherein the cold virus means business, not the kind where it glares grumpily at everything though that, too) and spotty sunlight at best, my progress photographing and testing out the new YSL Arty Stone collection is plodding along pretty slowly.
Here’s a collection overview to get you started — I’m most excited to test out the Rouge Pure Couture Vernis à Lèvres in Pêche Cerra-Colla, Volupté Sheer Candy in Framboise Craquante, and the Crème de Blush formula. While I’m not much of a nail girl, La Laque Couture in both Jade Impérial and Bronze Pyrite will be coming up as well!
On counters this January & online now at Nordstrom, for those of you who’d rather not venture out into the cold.
The inspiration
Gems fascinate with their magnetic beauty and their mysterious power of attraction. The Spring Look 2013 is a palette of mineral and crystalline colors, inspired by the brilliance of precious stones.
“After an acid pop trend in 2012, the Spring Look 2013 is a return to calm. I wanted a palette of colours in halftones, pastel but intense, fresh and powdery, almost milky. To use as a play of harmonies for a chic Parisian look or contrasted to show-off a rock attitude.”
-Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Make-up Yves Saint Laurent Beauté

Aww I hope you'll feel better soon! This collection for sure has pieces I'm interested in. I'll have to wait another week for it to come out though!
My recent post Got a Sweet Tooth? You’ll Love L’Occitane Honey Whipped Body Cream & Honey Hand Cream!
I want everything! I wish I could afford it though :(

Aaaaaw, take care of yourself dear! It's amazing that you still manage to blog in the meantime. I'm really stoked about the reviews on these, it's such a nice colourful collection and the np is gorgeous! Get well soon!
My recent post Dior Vernis in Ivory and Rouge Garconne
There are some really pretty colours in this collection. I love the look of that no. 16 eye pencil. Purple makes my green eyes pop! :)
Feel better! I was considering one of the cream blushes, but I didn't love it as much as I thought I would when I saw it in person! Stay warm and get better SOON! :)
My recent post Cuddle Up with Lush Schnuggle
feel better hun! I am drooling over all that ysl stunning and so exciting.
Thanks, Sunny :) Feb's not that far away — I think some of the shades in this one will really suit you!
The price tags are pretty crazy :( I say choose one or two favourites from the Spring collections & just splurge on those ones — there will be plenty of tempting things throughout the year, I'm sure!
Or, I mean, pick your favourite season and just ignore all the rest :p
Thanks, Teri :) Lots of sleep and tea; fingers crossed!
I'm kind of half-arseing it; I feel like I really can't accept that compliment! It's really slowing down my progress on all these gorgeous Spring collections :(
I feel like we're seeing a lot of really gorgeous, vivid eyeliners this season — a fair few blue ones, too!
Aww, sorry to hear that! I haven't tested them out yet, but I hope to find time to do so tomorrow.
Thank you, Joyce! ♥
Thanks, Gigi :) I hope to have reviews up as soon as I can hold a camera steady again! :P
Ah, hope you're back to feeling good soon, Rae!
I always like the YSL promotional photos, but have yet to be truly stirred by any of their actual releases. Dunno why, the products usually don't grab me (though I was obsessed with the Glossy Stains for a while). Partly I think because…I really am not a fan of the gold packaging. Might be silly, but I just rather black or gunmetal or silver…gold 'ain't my thang'!
My recent post Um, so…I Went On a Little Shopping Spree…
Thanks, Toya :) I'm feeling a lot better, knock on wood!
I totally feel you on the packaging, though! I'm a gold girl (though I hate the way it fingerprints), but I think it's completely understandable. If you're paying through the nose for a product , it should be spot-on, you know?
PS: Have you tried the L'Oreal Shine Caresses yet? Still not grey-ish, but for the price, they may be worth the compromise ;)
Ugh…I wanted the Frosted Mint but it's a UK exclusive. xP Ah well, still very pretty.
