Solid swimming pool

I finally pressed my Everyday Minerals Swimming Pool in something other than a sample jar!
Materials:
Empty compact (this one’s an old MAC Blot Powder one, cleaned thoroughly.)
What you’re pressing (EDM blusher and Fyrinnae Clear Mineral Finish, to lessen the pigmentation and make it easier to work with)
Cosmetic spatula or a small spoon etc (I used a skewer to mix, because it can get into corners, and doesn’t “scoop” product and hold it)
Mixing medium and/or alcohol (I used both Fyrinnae pressing solution and alcohol, in an equal ratio, for the perfect texture. More mixing medium = more solid finish to the pressed product, more alcohol = more dusty.)
1. Mix ingredients if there are different ones, to get an even powder.
2. Add solution, bit by bit, and mix in. Keep adding until it’s a mucky substance that is evenly wet, like a paste.

(see? I added the Mineral Finish to ensure my final product would be the same shade as the loose one, because when I tried it the first time I found that the finished product was a little more brown. And now they’re the exact same!)
3. Keep adding solution until pasty, then smooth down as best you can with the spatula.
4. Clean edges and let dry almost completely. (I was so tempted to leave it looking like this!)
5. Using a flat-bottomed object the same diameter on top of a piece of fabric or paper towel, press. I used the bottom of a small wine glass, and it fit perfectly!
Tomorrow: relabelling that compact!

This is wonderful! I bought the mixing medium to press my BECCA LSP into a PSP now that I see your tut I know exactly how to do it! Thanks so much! Your finished product looks excellent too!
Hi Arianne,Hmmm… I don't think so. The mini size filled this blot compact, but just barely! Blush pans are smaller though, so I'm not 100% sure about this!Lol, sexy contour powder :P You're making me blush! (oh, the punnery!)
How much loose product did it take to fill this pan? I bought sample size blushes from EDM, and a blush palette to press them in (same size as MAC’s). Will these be enough to fill a pan?
P.S. Oh yeah, the solid swimming pool looks very sexy. :)
nice! thanks for posting this :) I didn't realise Fryinnae made pressing medium as well, will have to check it out.

You’re welcome!! You better be posting those BECCA pics – it’ll be interesting to see if it swatches any differently once pressed! (This one doesn’t, thankfully, but is more sheer and easier to work with now that I’ve added some translucent powder as well)
Hmm… I wonder if you can press silica powder…
Np :) It's actually their powder modifier, or shadow modifier, or something like that… lol! But it works just as well, I find, and comes in a little dropper bottle that is a LOT smaller than the Coastal Scents one – I only wanted to press this one thing (for now!) so it really didn't make sense to spend $10 on a giant one that I'd only use 1/16 of :P
I'm going to need to do that with my Bare Escentuals. I hate how it gets all over the place.Fabulously Broke in the City"Just a girl trying to find a balance between being a Shopaholic and a Saver."
Do, do! I'd take half of it and press it into the sifter (like I did originally with my sample) so you have the option of using the powder loose, as well. And that way, you don't have to buy and clean out a compact!!Because it's minerals and not pigments, though, you may want to use a transformer + alcohol, as I find using alcohol alone to press minerals doesn't make it solid enough – you get a lot of loose bits that come up when you swipe your brush.
